Det s\u00e4gs att Kolmodin inspirerades till texten d\u00e5 han en midsommardag var p\u00e5 v\u00e4g till Ganns kyrka p\u00e5 Gotland. P\u00e5 \u00a0v\u00e4gen dit blev han s\u00e5 gripen av den gotl\u00e4ndska naturens f\u00e4gring, speciellt vid H\u00e5ngers gamla offerk\u00e4lla, att han skrev sin mycket uppskattade sommarpsalm.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kolmodin studerade vid Uppsala universitet och pr\u00e4stvigdes \u00e5r 1674. Han blev medarbetare och f\u00f6rfattare vid utgivandet av 1694 \u00e5rs psalmbok.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Israel Kolmodin ligger begraven i domkyrkan i
