Men det var framf\u00f6r allt sitt \u00e4lskade Dalarna han st\u00e4ndigt besj\u00f6ng i sin diktning. Hela Karlfeldts f\u00f6rfattarskap \u00e4r fast grundat i hembygdens landskap och folkliv. Sin debut gjorde han 1895 med diktsamlingen\u00a0Vildmarks- och k\u00e4rleksvisor\u00a0vilken genomstr\u00f6mmas av en stark och sensuell naturk\u00e4nsla. <\/em><\/p><p><em>I\u00a0Fridolins\u00a0visor\u00a0och andra dikter\u00a0(1898) och\u00a0Fridolins lustg\u00e5rd och Dalm\u00e5lningar p\u00e5 rim\u00a0(1901) skapar Karlfeldt en ljusomstr\u00e5lad v\u00e4rld fylld av uppsluppenhet och m\u00e4sterlig rimlek, men ocks\u00e5 med ett m\u00f6rkare str\u00e5k av skymning och skuld. <\/em><\/p><p>Dalm\u00e5lningarna \u00e4r skarpsinniga ekfraser d\u00e4r Karlfeldt i ord gestaltar Dalarnas s\u00e4regna allmogekonst med bibliska\u00a0motiv. Samlingen\u00a0<i>Flora och Pomona<\/i>\u00a0(1906) utm\u00e4rker sig genom sina m\u00e5ngtaliga nybildade ord; som gullm\u00e5nenatt, s\u00e4rlafl\u00e4ckar, v\u00e5r\u00f6gd. I\u00a0<i>Flora och Bellona<\/i>\u00a0(1918) ljuder en ur tidens oro sprungen disharmonisk ton. V\u00e4rldskrigets fasor skildras h\u00e4r i arkaiserande, h\u00e5rt sl\u00e5ende ordalag. Starka bibliska bilder \u2013 Karlfeldt \u00e4r sin samtids store religi\u00f6se diktare \u2013 brukas f\u00f6r att skilda den sargade samtiden: \u201dfolkens v\u00e4ldiga Getsemane\u201d.<\/p><p>I\u00a0<i>H\u00f6sthorn<\/i>\u00a0(1927), av m\u00e5nga ansedd som Karlfeldts starkaste\u00a0verk, behandlas religi\u00f6sa\u00a0motiv\u00a0med en innerlighet som \u00e4r enkel utan att vara naiv.
